VALLEY

to go Squaw Valley USA is California’s most ‘stylish
and elite’ resort, boasting superb terrain spread across
6 mountain peaks and receiving an average snowfall of 11 meters.
With amazing views in all directions it's spread over 4000
acres, with 16 open bowls and over 100 trails serviced by
34 high tech lifts. 70% of the terrain is suited for beginner
and intermediates made up of powder packed groomers, wide
open bowls, tree lined trails and family friendly areas. While
30% of the terrain is left for the advanced and experts in
its natural state consisting of cliff drops, treed runs, moguls
and steep and fast trails. Add to this 3 really well maintained
terrain parks and a super pipe, there is even a terrain park
for kids only!
The European style pedestrian only village is made up of
luxury condos and hotels boasting fine dining, great shopping,
bars and a busy night life.
Do
not miss
After a fresh snowfall advanced skiers and boarders head to
the Granite Chief black diamond bowl and reap the rewards!
High
Camp, located at 2,000 feet at the top of the aerial cable
car, has a heated lagoon and spa, ice skating rink and tubing
park. The cafe and restaurant stay open for the evening and
after dinner you can ski or board home down the 3.2 mile illuminated
trail back to the village.
Getting there and around Squaw
Valley USA is on the North Shore of Lake Tahoe 42 miles from
Reno International Airport, 96 miles from Sacramento and 196
miles from San Francisco via Interstate 80.
Hot
tips Generally
accommodation in the village can be expensive, for those on
a budget, staying at Tahoe City, only 8 miles away, provides
a shuttle to and from the resort daily.
If
you have a car Reno has cheap accommodation in the casinos
and is only about 1 hour away, the downside being in heavy
snowfalls driving times can increase.
