years ago while traveling through Europe on a winter vacation,
we were in Salzburg Austria contemplating our next destination.
We
came across a book, a winter resort travel guide and flicked
through the pages for some inspiration.
A
little known Italian resort which the writer painted as a
skiing and snowboarding wonderland, with amazing nightlife
and food you could only dream of jumped out at us. After checking
the snow conditions a 2 day non stop journey by bus and train
delivered us to our destination.
On
arrival, exhausted we rechecked the guide. Had we taken a
wrong turn? The resort that we had all been dreaming of certainly
was not before us.
We
stayed for two days and then left for another resort all a
little disappointed from the experience.
It
was on the train to our next destination that the concept
of a visual guide was discussed. "if you could see the
resort before you traveled, with your own eyes then you would
be able to get a better feeling for it".
Sure
the writer of the Italian resort article, which convinced
us to travel half way across western europe, may have had
the time of his life there, but people rarely seem things
in the same light.
What
one person may view as the steepest most extreme terrain they
have seen, will to another seem like a nice intermediate cruising
run. A visual guide removes individual bias, everyone can
see the resort and make up their own minds.
The
concept of a visual guide stuck in our minds and when the
DVD format was released in the late 90's, we had found the
perfect way to deliver resort travel guides to diehard skiers
and snowboarders.
The
company is owned by snow riders who have traveled the world
in the pursuit of endless powder over the past 15 years. Traveling
to countless ski and snowboard resorts throughout the USA,
Canada, France, Switzerland, Italy, Austria, Japan, New Zealand
and Australia.
DVD
is the perfect format for a ski and snowboard vacation travel
guide. Like a book, through the menu & chapter format,
you can instantly access the resort information you are after
. However that is where the comparison ends.
DVD
video guides allow you to make up your own mind how ski &
snowboard resorts look.
DVD's
interactivity allows viewers to choose how they want to use
the guide and footage can be viewed in just seconds. View
the entire resort or all resorts. View segments of resorts,
cruise the runs, view the town, ride the pipe & park,
the option is yours.
Snowdvd.com
is designed to help break down the decision of finding your
dream resort. We focus on the best resorts rather than focusing
on volume. Japan has over 300 resorts, likewise Europe and
the USA. As much as we would all like to hit every destination,
reality is we never will.
A
guide which focuses on 1000 resorts around the world can be
a great reference point, but it won't help you make the decision
of which one to go to.
We
film the worlds top resorts and each year release them in
a Volume Guide so you can put it in your DVD player and travel
the world, select your dream destination and begging planning
your trip.
This
seasons DVD, Volume 3, takes you to the resorts of Vail
Colorado - Steamboat Colorado - Jackson
Hole Wyoming - Davos Switzerland
- St.Moritz Switzerland - Flims Laax
